How To Load Routes Onto Your Garmin Edge 705
There are 2 ways to get the routes you have downloaded from this site onto your Garmin Edge 705 cycling GPS.
- Creating a GPX route and using as a saved ride
- Using the Course (.crs) File
- Open the .gdb file with MapSource
- Then connect your GPS via the USB cable.
- Then you should save the file as a .gpx file on your GPS's internal memory.
- You do this by going to "File" and choosing "save as".
- Navigate your way to the 705's "GARMIN" drive and select the Garmin>GPX folder.
- Then before you click save, choose the Save as Type as .gpx
- Now the route should be on your GPS and available under Saved Rides.
- To access it on the 705, go to "Where To", and select "Saved Rides".
- Select the name of your route and select navigate.
- Jump on your bike and ride!!
- The unit will point in the direction of the start
- And when you reach the start it will point in the direction of the next turn.
- This will happen each time you get to a turn in the route, until you reach the end.
- An important thing to remember is to start at the start! Or else this unit will carry on trying to navigate you to the start!
- Open Training Centre and import the course File>Import>Course.
- Open the courses tab and check that the file name is listed.
- Connect your 705 via the USB cable.
- Click on the Send to Device button and make sure "courses" is checked.
- Now the course should be on your GPS.
- To access the course on your GPS switch it on.
- Press the menu button and choose "Training".
- Then select "Courses"
- A list should appear, choose the course loaded.
- Jump on your bike and press start!
